After a six-year closure, the Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons of England re-opens on Tuesday, 16th May. Casson Mann's ambitious re-design of the museum includes contemporary, interpretive galleries and object displays, interactive and projected media, and soundscapes that draw visitors into the strange and fascinating world of John Hunter.
Part of a larger redevelopment of the RCS England headquarters at Lincoln’s Field Inn in central London, the project afforded an opportunity to relocate and improve the museum, which welcomes over 90,000 visitors a year through its extensive public events programme.
Complex, fascinating, sometimes uncomfortable, Casson Mann’s redesign of the Hunterian Museum draws out the story of John Hunter and anatomy, helping visitors understand the significance of his incredible collection.
