Pressoria is a sensory, poetic and engaging visitor experience. Opened in July 2021, it tells the story of champagne and its unique production in this region of France. The experience is housed within the former pressing centre of the Maison Pommery, at the foot of the historic slopes of Aÿ-Champagne. Installations explore the elemental basis of champagne and its terroir: chalk, rain, sunshine, and the deep vine roots. The savoir-faire of champagne-making is focused on, and its combination of innovative and age-old practices. The historic pressoir is brought back to life with a projection-mapped installation, telling the story of the harvest. The apex of the visitor experience is the walk-in, wrap-around-cinema, celebrating ‘bubbles’ as a joyful expression of the essence of champagne.
